Welcome to Ygrotopio, the WWF portal for the dissemination of environmental information on Greek island wetlands.

Ygrotopio begun as one of the actions under the WWF Greece “Conservation of the Island Wetlands of Greece” project. Ygrotopio provides information on the history, deliverables and achievements of this WWF Greece initiative: here, through our dynamic database, you can access information on 803 wetlands across 75 islands. Furthermore, you can look statistical and geographical data up, cartographic representations, and characteristic images of each wetland.

By providing all this data, WWF Greece is setting a framework for competent authorities, stakeholders and citizens to become further involved in substantially protecting island wetlands, aiming at engaging them in the rational management and conservation of these fragile and highly threatened island ecosystems.

Ygrotopio will be regularly updated with new information and data on island wetlands. We hope that it will serve as a useful tool to anyone working in education, research or the conservation and management of Greece’s natural environment.
